The world's best butter has just been crowned

Lurpak

And you may already have it in your fridge.

Whether you choose to schmear it on a freshly baked loaf, or dole it on top of your greens, butter is a kitchen staple. But just who you choose to remain loyal to when it comes to butter can be a rather competitive arena. And – as the recent World Championship Cheese Contest for 2018 proves – not all butter is created equal.

The event is the world’s premier technical cheese, butter and yoghurt competition and has been running for the past 32 years to praise the dairy goods that stand head and shoulders above the rest.

In this year’s contest Holstebro dairy, the home of Lurpak, was awarded first prize in the Salted Butter Category at the World Championship Cheese Contest 2018. The butter took out the top gong for its ability to stand out from the crowd – unlike most sweet cream butter varieties, Lurpak integrates lactic components giving it a unique flavour profile.
