The Provincial Hotel has long been known as the ‘grand old dame’ of Brunswick Street and its new rooftop is a hidden gem; an eclectic cohesion of comfortable furniture (think vintage patio), rambling vines and dilapidated beauty.
The bar offering is uncomplicated with 10 cold beers on tap, a selection of local and international wines by the glass and cool cocktails with a dash of sass including ‘Dance with the Devil’ – rich, dark and slightly bitter undertone with vanilla, caramel and butterscotch notes, ‘Pina Colada 2.5’ – classic Pina Colada served “The Prov Way” and ‘You’re Punching, Mate’ – a fruit punch throwing quick-pickled watermelon, pomegranate, mint and citrus flavours at each other.
Guests can enjoy a relaxed, eat-with-your-hands style menu including burgers ‘The Johnson Jamma’ – fried chicken, onion jam, cheese and bacon crispies, ‘The Brunswick’ – mac patty, cheese and cheese Doritos and ‘The Sticky Smith Street’ – sticky pork, battered sausage and pickles.
With spring around the corner, The Provincial Rooftop is set to be the ultimate hangout for relaxed, fun times in the heartland of the North side.
