Rockpool Foundation, the official charity arm of Rockpool Dining Group, has today launched the Sweet Treat Project, which aims to raise at least $75,000 over the festive season to provide children in foster care with personalised gifts. From Wednesday, 15 November to midnight on Tuesday, 26 December, $1 from every dessert sold across all 58 Rockpool Dining Group restaurants in NSW, Victoria and Queensland will be donated to the Rockpool Foundation’s Sweet Treat Project. Perrier-Jouet have announced the launch of their first cuvee in twenty years. Created by Chef de Caves Hervé Deschamps, Perrier-Jouët Blanc de Blancs is the first new cuvee to be developed for the Maison since he created the iconic Belle Époque Blanc de Blancs 20 years ago. Unique to most champagne styles that are a blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, Perrier-Jouët Blanc de Blancs is a signature cepage crafted entirely from Chardonnay. Celebrity chef and grape grower Stefano de Pieri has been awarded a trophy and three medals for his range of Italian-style, food friendly wines at the Australian Varieties Wine Show in Mildura last weekend weekend. He was awarded a gold medal and a trophy for Best White Italian Variety Wine for his Stefano De Pieri Fleurieu Vermentino 2017. “Italians have been enjoying wines made with the Vermentino grape since the 14th century, and I’m excited to see that more Australians are falling in love with this exciting white wine variety. This wine is made from grapes sourced from the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, and is a light, crisp and refreshing white that pairs perfectly with seafood,” Stefano said. Stefano was also awarded two bronze medals for his Stefano’s Mia Vita Pale Rosé 2017, a vibrant Rosé wine made predominantly from Sangiovese grapes, and Stefano De Pieri Di Qualita Sangiovese 2016, an elegant red wine which is the ultimate pairing with pasta.

A new addition to the Western Australia restaurant scene, Yarri has just been announced. The much anticipated restaurant by co-founders of Snake + Herring Wines Redmond Sweeny, Sal and Tony Davis, and Aaron Carr will launch in January 2018. Situated in the centre of Dunsborough alongside the town’s Dugalup Creek, Yarri will open seven days for lunch and dinner, seating 70 inside and 50 more diners outside. Spaces will be zoned and flexible. The interior will feature a chef’s ‘theatre’ bar for degustation dining; communal tables and more intimate banquette seating; and a bar zone. There will also space for wine and produce retail. Outside there will be relaxed outdoor seating under the trees in the courtyard.
