Forget the breakfast in bed, this year we treated mum to a very special Mother’s Day brunch event at Pilu in Freshwater.

It’s not brunch without a strawberry and mint Pimm’s cup. That’s what we always say.

Guests grabbed pictures on the American Express delicious. Month Out media wall. Now mum has something to keep in her wallet.

But first, champagne. Guests enjoyed bottomless bubbles by Calabria Family Wines.

Restaurateur Giovanni Pilu welcomed all the lovely ladies to Pilu Freshwater for brunch.

To start, guests were served watermelon, coconut yoghurt and abamele, cured meats and focaccia and croissants with whipped butter and jam.

For mains, guests could choose from a butter poached bug tail with corn puree and potato or a spanner crab and tomato risotto (pictured).

For desserts, Pilu served up apple tarte tatin with olive oil ice cream and a nostalgic sweet treat, called “memories of cappuccino and Cornetto”.

Every guest received a gift bag which included a leather card holder from The Daily Edited, the latest issue of delicious. magazine and a gift voucher for In The Roundhouse.

Plus, every mum got a bunch of fresh florals by Fleur de Flo.
