On Friday 5 June, delicious. editor-in-chief Kerrie McCallum will host a virtual dinner party with Mike McEnearney and delicious. wine contributor Merrick Watts for an evening of online food fanfare. Order a pre-prepared meal kit from McEnearney’s well-known Sydney restaurant Kitchen by Mike via his new offering Kitchen by Mike at Home, with cocktails included from the team at Ugly Duckling, and join our hosts for this special online reader dinner from your very own dining table. If you fancy some great wine with your meal, Merrick Watts has pairing notes for each menu – just add those wines to your meal kit order.
The best part of it all? There’s minimal cooking. Heat everything up and spend your evening enjoying the food and chat with Kerrie and guests.
What you’ll be eating
Our Kitchen by Mike menu features the produce Mike McEnearney is known for – starting with his famous bench cut sourdough roll with Pepe Saya butter, a plate of chicken liver pate and four spice salt, followed by his salt crusted beetroot with buffalo stracciatella, walnuts and merlot vinegar dressing. Next, enjoy Kitchen by Mike’s indulgent fish pie, followed by chocolate and chia cake petit four served with Ugly Duckling’s rum and burnt mandarin Old Fashioned. To finish, digest all the glorious flavours with Mike’s garden blend tea by OVIOO Organic.
In terms of wine pairings, Merrick suggests sipping on a Meadowbank Sparkling with the pate, enjoying a Ravensworth Sangiovese with the salt crusted beetroot, and White by Mike 2019 field blend (Vermentino, Savagnin, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay) with the fish pie.
