Best for fresh produce?
Producer Richard Hoare near our restaurants in Cornwall. He grows everything we need and harvests when produce is at its peak.
Most memorable meal?
At Le Louis XV in Monte-Carlo. Alain Ducasse produced a dinner using incredible ingredients in the finest surroundings. I’ll remember that meal for the rest of my life.
Recent foodie discovery?
London’s Pitt Cue Co. – they’re showcasing the best meat cookery I’ve ever seen. I love that this place isn’t just about formal dining, its focus is on flavoursome food.
Best for seafood?
Lobster and crab fisherman Calum Greenhalgh’s cafe Fresh From The Sea in Port Issac. His wife’s crab sandwiches are out of this world.
Where I want to eat next…
Asador Etxebarri in San Sebastian. They cook all their food over firewood and coals.
Best place for cheese?
Davidstow Creamery in Cornwall – the maker of the wonderful Crackler cheese – a crumbly, yellow cheese made from the milk of cows that graze on the lush Cornish grass.
Best for satisfying sweet cravings?
A traditional Cornish cream tea – homemade scones, jam and a dollop of Rodda’s Cornish clotted cream next to a pot of tea.
Top tipple?
Camel Valley Darnibole Bacchus. Their vineyard in Cornwall is famed for its sparkling wines, but their Darnibole Bacchus is particularly refreshing.
Best place for bread?
Long-running The Bertinet Bakery in Gloucestershire. The family is originally from France and they still make all the bread by hand.
Best place to impress?
The Ace Hotel, New York. The amazing April Bloomfield is in the kitchen and there’s a choice of dining at either The Breslin or The John Dory Oyster Bar. When you walk in you immediately feel like a rock star.
When I don’t feel like cooking…
