Things are really heating up in the kitchen, reports Danielle Colley.
When we hear the words “naked chef” a certain pukka young Brit springs to mind. But there is a new naked chef on the block and the words “smoking hot” seem to follow him wherever he goes.
Peruvian-born New Yorker, Franco Noriega, 27, likes nothing more than stripping the night’s shift away by shedding his chef’s pants and cooking in the buff. The young chef shows no fear when handling hot pans and sharp knives in the vicinity of his family jewels. While not everyone who has the urge should embrace nudity, Franco is also a model for brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry and underwear king Calvin Klein. There is no denying the model/chef/social media star has been given more than his fair share of sizzle, both in and out of the kitchen.

Widely dubbed as the “world’s hottest chef”, Noriega has amassed more than 235,000 Instagram followers, with a feed as much about bulging biceps as it about his food. At least, we think there is some food on there.
Noriega is perfectly at ease au natural. He was a former professional swimmer in Peru before heading to the US to further his horizons. A year at New York’s International Culinary Centre, followed by a chance meeting with fellow Peruvian, photographer Mario Testino, and the rest is history.
Noriega heads up a Peruvian rotisserie, Baby Brasa, in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, which boasts delights such as organic, free-range spiced chicken, quinoa salads and yuca fries. Following its success, he plans to open a second restaurant in the West Village in January, followed by a third mid-2017 in his own ‘hood of Williamsburg.
Noriega presumably wears clothes at work for health and safety reasons, but there is no doubt that this talented young chef is as savvy in the social media arena as he is on the pans.
His recent YouTube video teaching us how to make chia pudding while wearing nothing but our undies has gained 157,000 views in 10 days. Some may come for the accent, some may even come for the food, but combining these with Franco’s “raw” appeal is a sure-fire recipe for success.
