Lean on pantry staples such as honey and red wine vinegar to make a ham glaze in minutes.

Ingredients (7)

  • 6kg bone-in leg smoked ham
  • 1 tbs extra virgin olive oil
  • Mustards and horseradish cream to serve

Pantry glaze

  • 1/3 cup (115g) honey
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup (125g) brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) red wine vinegar

Method

  • 1.
    Preheat oven to 220°C fan-forced. Run your fingers under the skin of the ham to loosen, then remove and discard. Place ham in a roasting dish or tray, brush with oil and place in the oven. Cook 10 minutes or until fat starts to turn golden.
  • 2.
    Meanwhile, place all glaze ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Cook for 5 minutes or until reduced.
  • 3.
    Remove ham from oven and coat with a third of the glaze. Cook for a further 15 minutes, glazing twice more. Serve sliced with mustards and horseradish cream.
