A Martini with a cocktail onion garnish. One story goes that it was created by a teetotaler American diplomat. In order to not seem unsociable at parties, he would have the bartender serve him water in a Martini glass, the onion serving to differentiate his drink from others. Ingredients (3)
- 2 oz (60 ml) London Dry gin
- 1 oz (30 ml) dry vermouth
- Cocktail onion, to garnish

1.Combine all the ingredients in a mixing glass filled with ice and stir for 25–30 seconds, or until well chilled. Strain into a coupe or Martini glass. Garnish with a cocktail onion.
