Honey, beer and rye lavosh
Make your own lavosh bread and woo dinner party guests with the perfect cheese platter.

Ingredients (6)

  • 2 1/2 cups (300g) dark rye flour
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) extra virgin olive oil, plus extra to brush
  • 2/3 cup (160ml) dark ale or other beer
  • 2 tbs honey
  • 1/3 cup (50g) black sesame seeds
  • Fromage d’affinois, to serve

Method

  • 1.
    Preheat oven to 180°C. Combine flour, oil, ale, honey and 2 tsp salt in a large bowl.
  • 2.
    Turn out onto a work surface and knead until smooth (add more flour if too sticky).
  • 3.
    Divide dough into 8 balls. Roll 1 ball out between 2 sheets of baking paper until 1mm thick.
  • 4.
    Transfer on baking paper to a baking tray, brush with oil, then scatter with sesame and salt flakes. Repeat.
  • 5.
    Bake for 20 minutes or until crisp and dry. Set aside to cool completely, then serve with d’affinois.
