Rose caramel apples
A tasty reinvention of the toffee apples from our childhoods. Be sure to serve with a hearty dollop of nostalgia.

Ingredients (4)

  • Sunflower oil spray, to grease
  • 10 small Pink Lady apples
  • 3 cups (660g) caster sugar
  • 1/2 cup edible rose petals (from gourmet food shops)

Method

  • 1.
    Line a baking tray with baking paper and spray with oil.
  • 2.
    Insert sticks into the top of the apples. Place the sugar in a deep saucepan over medium-high heat. Cook, swirling frequently, for 20 minutes or until a dark caramel. Remove from heat.
  • 3.
    Working with 1 apple at a time, carefully dip each apple in caramel, turning to coat and allowing excess to drip off. Scatter with rose petals and place on prepared tray. Repeat with remaining apples.
  • 4.
    Set aside for 30 minutes to set before serving.
