Soy nuts
Superfoods cinnamon, star anise and nuts make this a pretty good snack option.
Ingredients (8)
- 1 tablespoon caster sugar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 star anise
- 1 cinnamon quill
- 1 teaspoon Szechuan peppercorns, crushed
- 4 cups (about 600g) mixed raw nuts
- 2 tablespoons peanut oil
- 1/4 teaspoon sesame oil
Method

1.Place sugar, soy, star anise, cinnamon, pepper and 1 teaspoon salt in a pan with 2 cups (500ml) water. Bring to the boil, add nuts and simmer over low heat for 5 minutes. Drain, then pat dry well on paper towel. Heat oils in a large pan over medium-high heat. When hot, add nuts and fry for 2-3 minutes until crisp. Sprinkle with sea salt and serve the nuts with beer.
