Add a sweet and spicy element to a rich and earthy chocolate torte with this poached pears recipe.
Ingredients (6)
- 220g (1 cup) caster sugar
- 375ml (1 1/2 cups) red wine
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 vanilla bean, split
- 4 firm pears, peeled, halved, cored
Don't forget you can add these ingredients to your Woolworths shopping list.

1.Place sugar, wine, cinnamon, bay leaves and vanilla in a pan and bring to a simmer.

2.Add pears and enough water to cover. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until just cooked (this will depend on ripeness of pears).

3.Remove pears, boil liquid until reduced by half, then pour over pears. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
