Ingredients: 1/2 cup (50g) cocoa powder; 1/3 firmly packed cup (80g) brown sugar; 1 tbs cornflour; 1 tsp ground cinnamon; 1/4 tsp dried chilli flakes; 1 tsp ground allspice; A pinch of sea salt

Gifting food for Christmas is a nice personal touch, and your friends will love this spicy Italian hot chocolate.

1/2 cup (50g) cocoa powder
1/3 firmly packed cup (80g) brown sugar
1 tbs cornflour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp dried chilli flakes
1 tsp ground allspice
A pinch of sea salt

Method

1.

Combine ingredients in a bowl, then divide among 4 jars.
2.

Accompany each jar with the following note: heat 1/2 cup (125ml) milk in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed.
3.

Whisk through hot chocolate mixture until combined. Gradually add another 1 1/2 cups (375ml) milk and bring to a simmer.
4.

Reduce heat to low and cook, whisking constantly, for 2-3 minutes until hot chocolate thickens slightly. Serve.
