And, no we're not talking about those kinds of cookies. delicious.'s own food-obsessed traveller and assistant food editor Helena Moursellas shares her top picks for where to eat, stay and play while traversing the Netherland's capital.
Helena Moursellas samples the best of Amsterdam’s food and drinks, while following her nose around the postcard-worthy canal city. Here’s where she suggests you stay, eat, drink and play:

Stay at Pulitzer Hotel
An elegant, sophisticated stay made up of 25 picturesque canal houses, walking into this hotel feels like you’re entering an art gallery. The Dutch know style, and expertly mix modern and traditional design – from plush velvet couches to gold elevators, and stunning views of the iconic canals of Amsterdam. The Pulitzer has three food and beverage outlets, including Pause at Pulitzer, a hidden gem with great coffee and views of the stunning leafy garden and Jansz., which is the perfect place to sit by the window and people-watch over lunch, with a menu focused on classic dishes. By the evening, guests can opt to drink in the cosy Pulitzer’s Bar, sinking into the leather lounges for a night cap.

Eat at Van Stapele Cookies
The world’s best cookie’s are in Amsterdam. No, not that kind of cookie – I mean the cookies from Van Stapele, which are so good there’s often a line out the door. The last time I remember lining up for something for so long was to get into a nightclub, but these days all it takes is a really good cookie to have me joining the queue. Hand-rolled, with dark chocolate on the outside and a gooey white chocolate centre, these cookies are so good that Van Stapele only sells the one type.

Eat at Jwo lekkernijen Amsterdam cheese shop
When in Amsterdam, block out an entire day to sample a true Dutch-style deli. You’ll find cheese wheels stacked higher than your head. Simply pick your favourite cheeses, antipasto, dips and meats, take your seat by the window and enjoy your provisions with a glass of wine.

Eat at Restaurant De Kas
Restaurant De Kas has been named the ‘Best Organic Restaurant in the Netherlands’ for the past three years. When the weather changes, so do the ingredients on the menu, all of which are grown on-site, picked fresh in the morning and served that same afternoon. Make sure you take a tour through the nursery after you eat.

Drink at Glouglou Natural wine bar
Glouglou was the first natural wine bar in Amsterdam and features small wine makers from around the world. The staff here are well trained and will guide you through their extensive list of excellent picks. From orange wines to cloudy reds, it’s the place to try something new. In the summer, the outdoor area is packed with locals, embracing the little bit of sunshine they get each year. Let’s be real – all we really need in life is good-quality wine, great company and vitamin D.

Play – Ride a bike through Vondelpark
Have you even been to Amsterdam if you didn’t take a photo of you and your bike? Renting a bike is as simple as downloading the app Donkey Republic and securing a bike for 24 hours. It’s the best way to see the city. Spend your day like a local, riding through Vondel Park and along the canals.
