Headed to the newly dubbed 'city of lights' for its upcoming exhibition? Here's where you'll need to refuel.
Opening on November 1, 2019, Bruce Munro’s Tropical Light is set to illuminate the Northern Territory in Darwin’s first city-wide exhibition. During the free exhibition, eight, large-scale light sculptures will for the centerpiece of the renowned international artist’s third Australian Exhibition. The free exhibition will remain open until April 2020.
During the exhibition’s reign, many of Darwin’s best-loved eateries will host special events set to lure in food lovers visiting the region. Here’s what to eat while you’re perusing the sculptures:
A night of indulgence
To celebrate the exhibition, Char Restaurant is hosting an indulgent dining experience. Beginning with a luxury limousine pick-up, guests will be sip French Champagne and enjoy canapes while the sun sets over the Arfura Sea.
After sunset, the restaurant will host a two-course dinner paired with perfectly matched wines, before diners enjoy an exclusive tour of the exhibition. Then, it’s time for dessert at Char, in it’s Heritage-listed Admiralty House.

A tropical feast
As the dark sets in, three of Munro’s sculptures light up before Wharf One Food & Wine, setting the scene for the ‘Tropical Light Signature Feast at Wharf One Food & Wine‘.
Enjoy a tropical drink on arrival, and a two- or three-course menu featuring the restaurant’s signature dishes.
A waterfront food trail
In a Darwin-first, the ‘Tropical Light Waterfront Food Trail‘ will present a progressive dinner. During the movable feast, guests can devour a three-course meal – with each course taking place at three difference venues: The Precinct Tavern, Wharf One Food & Wine and Coco Republic.
Diners can expect a tropical mocktail and tapas on arrival at The Precinct, before moving on to the next spots on their trails.

Territory-style grazing
The newest member of Darwin’s Waterfront Precinct, Coco Republic, will be serving up a Territory Grazing Board, featuring the best of seasonal NT produce.
The board includes Brahman Beef croquettes, seasonal seafood, house-made condiments, antipasto, seasonal fruits and a tropical mocktail to match.
