Here, your friendly neighbour is a rescued pig named Sir Russell.
For those inner-city residents whose closest thing to a backyard is a succulent on the window ledge or a petit balcony herb garden, an escape to a verdant farm filled with animals and plant life can feel like the new definition of luxury.
Eden Farm Escape, a mere 90-minute drive from Sydney, in Bilpin, has opened its luxury cabin’s doors to those seeking respite and a dose of fresh air.

The child, dog and horse-friendly accommodation sits on an equine farm, overlooking the Blue Mountains. Here, five self-contained cabins of varying sizes dapple 90 acres of green landscape and exude country charm.
Each cabin comes complete with a small, well-equipped kitchen and is a labour of love from the duo who brought us The Grumpy Baker, Michael Cthurmer and Deborah Goodman.

Better yet, the property is home to equine-assisted therapy programs – aimed at bettering the lives of people (particularly children) who can befit from spending time with horses, alongside a specialised equine psychotherapist.
At the Eden Equine site, twelve horses, ponies and agisted stallions live alongside three miniature donkeys, a rescued pig named ‘Sir Russell’, a family of alpacas, cows, sheep and three goats.
