This is not your average hotel spa experience. After consulting with this resort's healer, you'll be brought elixirs and remedies comprising ingredients plucked from an organic permaculture garden on site.
If making time to unwind, become healthier or perhaps simply travel more were on your list of resolutions for the new year, a new boutique resort opening in Sumba, Indonesia, in April 2020 will help you tick off all three at once.

Alamayah is a five-star, all inclusive boutique stay neighboured by jungle, secret lagoons, waterfalls and unspoiled beach, featuring six private suites, a wellness spa, a fitness centre, blooming gardens and a plant-based restaurant.

Here, guests are treated to a body analysis from a healer, three plant-based meals a day, medicinal mixology, daily massage treatments and more.

The resort has collaborated with a team of physicists and chemists to create five essential oil blends to heal common human ailments. Then, there’s yoga, healing, surfing, mountain biking, guided jungle treks, art therapy and leisurely pursuits.

Now, as for that ‘conscious cuisine’ – a farm-to-table menu that is touted as both ethically and environmentally sustainable arrives at the table, abundant with locally foraged herbs, fruit, vegetables and edible flowers. Much of the prepared produce comes from Alamayha’s organic permaculture gardens – and the rest is sourced from neighbouring plantations. Then, to accompany your plant-based dishes, taking inspiration from apothecary potions, a range of homemade elixirs and ‘medicinal mixology’ cocktails and mocktails are served. Recipes draw on ancient root, flower and herbal remedies.

And, if this isn’t quite personal enough for you, you can book a the full property for a private retreat experience. Alamayah is available for bookings from 2 April 2020.
