By drinking great wines, you can help this Queensland region enduring drought

Here's how you can turn wine into water.

Watching on as images of drought-stricken country fill our screens can leave viewers feeling heartbroken and defeated all at once. But, what if drinking wine from some of the Sunshine State’s finest wineries could help ease the pressure for Queensland growers?

Facing one of the most intense droughts on record, Queensland’s Granite Belt region is feeling the heat. Once resplendent and swathed in greenery, the region is becoming dryer and dustier by the day – meaning tourism and business is suffering too. Now, locals are limited to 100L of water per person per day – and having to buy in this water to keep themselves, their stock and their food sources watered.

So, how can drinking wine help those suffering through the drought?

A brave band of Granite Belt wineries have come together to launch Wine4Water, which is a not-for-profit alliance aimed at raising funds for the Granite Belt Drought Assist – an organisation responsible for distributing water, food and stock feed to Granite Belt residents in need.

All you need to do to help out, purchase a Wine4Water mixed pack of six wines from a participating Granite Belt winery (for $150 delivered). From each pack, approximately $45 will go toward the cause.
