The Banya is a European-inspired bathhouse with a modern twist. Relaxation, wellness and good food is at the heart of this contemporary space.

“In Europe going to the banya is a social experience, it’s in their blood. While we might go to the pub or a restaurant, they’ll go to the banya for a few hours: it’s food, it’s drinks, it’s wellness and connecting” says owner Brenden Lawless.

There’s a tiled lap pool and three large hot mineral pools to wash away stresses in. To further relax tired bodies there’s a wood-fired sauna, steam room and cold plunge. Hot tip: The traditional practice, and most efficacious, is to dip into the cold plunge pool between heat treatments. 

For ultimate relaxation, treat yourself to a massage. There’s five treatment rooms and three types of massages on offer: relaxation, deep tissue, and pregnancy. Post-treatment head up to the rooftop sundeck to ready yourself to face reality again.

If you want to make a day of it, stay for a long lunch. The Dining Room menu features an array of healthy and hearty dishes that are perfect for sharing. Think Ballina king prawns on garlic butter brioche, Rock oysters on ice and The Banya board that features pickles and preserved local veg, warm bread and local cheese. For take-away or casual dining, there’s a selection of delicious toasted deli sandwiches. 

When it comes to drinks there are a plethora of fresh smoothies, juices and health shots on offer. For those wanting something a little harder, there’s cocktails and wines available. This is our kind of bathhouse.
