This might just be the state's best-kept secret, hiding near a tourist hotspot.

When you think of Kiama, you think of the Kiama Blowhole. But not far from the coastal town’s iconic blowhole is another seaside gem that has been flying under the radar and has just gone viral on social media, thanks to travel bloggers and guide writers Walk My World.

The blog revealed in a post to Facebook that it just discovered Campbells Hole, a stunning hidden rock pool that is located along the Kiama coastline (and can be spotted from the Kiama Coast Walk). The picture-perfect swim spot is void of crowds, nestled along coastline’s towering cliff sides and completely untouched.

Getting to the hidden rock pool is no easy feat. Walk My World have shared a detailed guide on reaching the secluded spot, but here’s an abbreviated version to help you deliberate whether this swim spot is for you.

Keen swimmers and walkers, take note: begin at Werri Beach car park where you’ll find a set of stairs that lead to a beach. Cross the beach past the lagoon and onto the grassy track. Follow this track for 350 metres until you come across a social trail heading towards a bush on your right (it’ll be the second one you come across). Walk along the path for 50 metres or so until it spits you out onto a beach. From here you’ll need to rock hop for 20 to 30 metres before reaching a little spit of sand which will indicate you need to head left towards the rock shelf.Follow the rock shelf for 350 metres until you reach Campbells Hole. All up, the walk is almost one kilometre long and fairly flat.

Ensure that you’re visiting at low tide so the rock shelf is clear of crashing waves and the swim hole is not being bombarded with crashing waves. Campbells Hole is not patrolled by lifeguards so it is advised that swimmers enter the water with caution. Walk My World recommends ‘visiting within a couple of hours of either side of low tide.’

Navigating the rocky, uneven surfaces is the toughest part of the walk, but you’ll be rewarded for your efforts once you reach the rock pool.

Want to cool off on the South Coast this summer, but aren’t prepared to cross rock shelves? We’ve got you covered, here are the best ocean and rock pools on the NSW South Coast that are more accessible, but equally as stunning. If breaking a sweat to access a swim spot doesn’t phase you, then have you heard of Wallagoot Gap? It’s another hidden beach on the South Coast of NSW that locals don’t want you to know about.
