Expect some surprises.
If you visited family vacation hotspot Daydream Island as a child, you’re about to see it in a new light. The much-loved Whitsunday’s island resort has undergone a major transformation, and will open doors to guests once again from 10 April 2019.

So, what can you expect to find at the new-look tropical destination? All-new bars, dining concepts and waterfront suites – plus a return of the glorious Living Reef and an underwater observatory. Alongside 277 fresh suites, there’ll be an Outdoor Cinema, pools and tropical gardens. The resort has stayed true to its family-friendly roots, but it’s new design, contemporary food and beverage offerings and location will appeal to couples and groups too.

Seasonal, locally sourced produce will showcase the region’s tropical flavours across its new restaurants. Infinity restaurant features an Asian fusion menu and views over the Whitsundays, alongside its private Teppanyaki Suite. Graze Interactive Dining will bring the natural beauty of the island indoors, with verdant plantlife and floor-to-ceiling glass windows that open up to the Living Reef. Here, diners can enjoy an interactive dining experience, with a marketplace and live cooking stations. Contemporary Australian cuisine will be served up at Inkstone Kitchen and Bar – making native flavours the star of its dishes. The Barefoot Bar will sit poolside, serving the likes of sliders and tropical cocktails.

The eco-friendly Living Reef will present an educational experience with its free-form coral lagoon wrapping around the central building. Guests can join marine biologists to feed baby stringrays, and marvel at the diverse marine life. The underwater observatory will also see guests enjoying live four metres below the sea. Snorkeling, helicopter tours, sailing and many other activities will be available to guests. While the kids club is where young travellers can become ‘eco-warriors’ and learn about the island’s wildlife, adults will have their own designated area for those seeking additional sanctuary in a quieter kids-free space too.
