Campbell Point House is as beautiful as it’s surroundings.
Victoria, namely the Bellarine Peninsula, is having a moment with a seemingly endless stream of luxury accommodation (Jackalope) and soulful retreats (Lon). Adding to that list is Campbell Point House on Lake Conneware, a breathtaking French manor-style property with eight luxurious suites for up to 30 guests. While Australia is well-known for beachside getaways, this venue invites you to the French countryside, a picturesque oasis with lush greenery and impressive architecture.
The hotel is located just an hour outside of Melbourne, or 15 minutes by helicopter if you’re looking to go all out. A celebration of the location, the manor champions Victoria’s wine country, set on 16-hectares with seemingly endless water views. The stunning property was originally the family home of Aaron Parkhill, who has since spent $10 million on renovations over 15 months. The finished project includes all the creature comforts, with an infinity, pool, day spa, tennis court, greenhouse and billiards room.

Among the manors neighbours are an impressive list of wineries, One Day Estate, Jack Rabbit and Scotchmans Hill Winery along with famous coastal beaches including Bells Beach, only a short drive away. The restaurant, headed by Tobin Kent (formerly of now-closed fine diner Gladioli) uses locally-sourced ingredients for a seasonally-inspired menu. Organic produce is grown on-site, forming the basis of degustation dinners and dreamy breakfasts on offer to hotel guests.
It’ll set you back a pretty penny (try $1250 for two) but the inclusions certainly make it worthwhile. For this price, you’ll be treated to an eight-course degustation dinner by Tobin, a-la-carte breakfasts, bottle of champagne and a cheese platter. Not to mention, you can enjoy all of this while treating your eyes to the expansive garden views, secluded and exclusive to guests only.
For those looking to travel to the South of France without the jet-lag, Campbell Point House is the perfect middle-ground.
