Get the ultimate stargazing fix at this rural destination.
Sweeping views of the Australian outback are hard to beat, especially from the comfort of a boutique, dome-shaped tent. The first of its kind in NSW, this luxury dome accommodation is set on 9000 acres of pure, panoramic bliss.
Created by third-generation beef farmers Jamie and Belinda Munsie, Faraway Domes is a tribute to outback living. After experiencing some of the driest and most difficult weather conditions in 100 years, the Munsies knew they had to evolve or risk losing their farming business entirely. This passion project was created out of a love of farming and the determination to give their family hope for the future.

The property sits in the region of Warialda, a seven-and-a-half hour drive from Sydney and five hours from Brisbane, thus guaranteeing you beautiful isolation. Apart from other guests, you’re unlikely to encounter another soul on the property (not including the wildlife of course). Far from the hustle of the city or tourist destinations, the tranquility of the bushland offers a unique experience that’ll have you feeling relaxed and reconnected.

The dome combines first-class comfort with minimal carbon footprint, through the inclusion of a septic tank, natural heating and cooling system, and an off-grid power supply. Belinda says the finished product, a geodesic structure, embodies modernity, luxury and environmental awareness.
Made to be photographed, the interior features an inviting four-poster bed, indoor kitchen and private outdoor bath. East-facing, the property is designed to ensure you don’t miss a single minute of the region’s views. Besides soaking in the serenity, on-site activities include bush walks, fishing in the Gwydir River or sapphire fossicking.

Currently only one dome takes pride of place on the property, but depending on popularity the family plans to open even more in the near future. If evenings under a star-filled sky and waking up to the sight of rolling hills and grazing livestock is your idea of heaven, it’s time to book your stay at this idyllic destination.
