And it sounds even more jaw-dropping than the original.
The Mornington Peninsula has now become somewhat of a design haven, thanks in part to the introduction of the award-winning Jackalope Hotel. The luxury accommodation offering only opened in April of last year but has already proven itself one of the most in-demand travel destinations in the country.
Now, off the back of this success, a second hotel will be born, but this time in the heart of the Melbourne CBD. The Jackalope Flinders lane will be a 32-room hotel situated in the historic Maria George Building, which was built in 1911. Designed by March Studio, the sleek city haven will embrace the same dedication to art, design, drinking and storytelling that can be found in the Mornington favourite.
In-keeping with the statement-making design that we have come to expect from Jackalope properties, the Melbourne hotel will house the original building in a 10-storey minimal frosted glass box. The hotel will span a total of 16 levels including a lobby, as well as two food and beverage outlets within. The cherry on top of the cake (literally) will be a rooftop Cloud Bar, where a 10mm electropolished stainless steel wire will mimic the shape of a cumulus cloud.
With the Jackalope Flinders Lane not expected to open until 2020, you have plenty of time to start saving.
