Art lovers rejoice: the Melbourne Art Fair is set to go ahead as a free digital experience to take place from June 1st – June 7th.
While the physical art fair is set to be rescheduled for next February, the Melbourne Art Foundation has partnered with digital platform Ocula.com to offer virtual viewing rooms, online artist studio visits and collector interviews for art lovers around Australia in the first week of June.
The new virtual platform will showcase a combination of new and iconic pieces, which were originally intended for display during the February 2020 event.
The contemporary art fair is a favourite among galleries and collectors alike and the organisers hope that the reimagined digital experience will help virtual visitors to connect with the works.
“Our goal… is to keep the art community connected and provide a channel for art to continue to be a part of our lives until we can view and absorb it again via traditional methods at galleries and fairs,” said Melbourne Art Foundation CEO and Fair Director Maree Di Pasquale.
