Melbourne’s newest hotel has a rooftop bar that's perfect for after-work drinks

Looking for somewhere new to celebrate the end of lockdown #4179 in Melbourne (fingers and toes crossed)? At the new Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands, set to open in mid-June, you’ll find four new spots – all within the hotel’s grounds.

First up is Archer’s, a sleek all-day dining restaurant with vaulted ceilings, spa-like neutral tones, and a menu by Executive Chef David Albert. Local, award-winning produce is the food focus here, with dishes that include fermented longhorn chilli and cultured buttermilk, Oberon Suffolk lamb tartare and duck jamon with rhubarb compote, walnut mole and Davidson plum.

Then there’s also Ada’s, an elegant lobby bar serving bar bites, cocktails and, for the non-drinkers, an impressive line-up of mocktails with fun names like NOgroni and Espresso MartiNO.

Next is Corsia, a café inspired by Melbourne’s laneways, serving coffee by St Ali by day before transforming into a bar with espresso martinis and local drinks at night.

And finally, there’s Sunset House, a rooftop bar and restaurant surrounding a stunning infinity pool. With dramatic views of Melbourne’s skyline, not to mention drinks like Everleigh spritzed cocktails, Singapore Slings and Elderflower Philosophy and bites like a Moreton Bay bug brioche roll with fermented chilli, a duck jaffle, and fancy finger sandwiches, it’s sure to be the place to be at clock-off time weeknights.

The hotel is the first Marriott to open countrywide in over 20 years. In addition to its four venues, it’ll also house 189 rooms, an M Club executive lounge, and a fitness centre with newly-launched Technogym Excite Live (the first hotel in Australia and the South Pacific to feature it).

Whether you’re looking for somewhere to stay on a Melbourne weekend away or city staycation, or simply for a place to watch a fiery winter sunset with a strong cocktail-in-hand, this five-star property’s sure to become your new go-to.
