Prepare to succumb to Tas-Mania, because Hobart will soon be home to Australia’s first The Luxury Collection Hotel, with the opening of the hotly anticipated new hotel, The Tasman.

Slated to open its doors on December 1st 2021 in an original 1840s Art Deco heritage building on Murray Street, The Tasman will house 152 rooms, a hidden cocktail bar and renowned Tasmanian chef Massimo Mele’s new Italian restaurant Peppina.

The heritage development boasts an ideal location, just steps from the famous Salamanca Markets, St David’s Park and the vibrant waterfront of Sullivan’s Cove.

As well an enticing new restaurant and secret cocktail bar, there’s a slew of captivating accommodation features: the 152 unique rooms feature original artworks from local artists, warming fireplaces and island baths; and the suites are said to be some of Hobart’s ‘most spectacular’.

The hotel’s design offers guests a chance to experience three eras within the one property, artfully blending the site’s historical legacy with gasp-worthy contemporary elements.
The history-filled hallways of the original 1840s heritage design and understated luxury of the 1940s Art Deco building are beautifully counterbalanced with spectacular views of the Hobart waterfront from a striking new glass ensconced Pavilion building.

Alongside the accommodation offering, there’s a selection of elegant and modern meeting and event spaces, including The Cumulo room which features floor-to-ceiling windows and an outdoor terrace overlooking the historic St David’s Park.

The Tasman officially opened bookings last week, as it prepares to welcome guests for stays from 4 January 2022, with additional bookings for December dates to be made available closer to the official December 2021 opening.
