The interiors
Designed by Bates Smart, the lavish new Hilton property pays respectful attention to the original heritage character of the building, with both the six-level addition and tower designed specifically to preserve and celebrate the iconic Bourke Street facade and heritage structure. Guests can expect a quintessentially Melbourne experience, from the uniquely Melbourne entrance on Little Queen Street to the epic contemporary glass-reinforced concrete addition, at a scale never-before-seen in Victoria.
The heritage
Inside the lavish new property, the 1930s inspired glamour continues. Interior detailing combines contemporary translations of the building’s unique features, with the lower levels featuring heritage suites, all lovingly restored to highlight the original historic timber panelling, architraves and ceiling moulds.
The dining
There’s no shortage of new fine dining and beverage offerings either, the property will include the modern Australian restaurant Luci helmed by Head Chef Sam Moore (of Pier Rose Bay, Becasse, and No.35 at Sofitel Melbourne) and a swoon-worthy classic lounge bar called The Douglas Club.
