Need to get off the grid? A luxe winter escape awaits at this country eco retreat
I’m sorry, you’re breaking up. *imitates crackling phone line*
Get off the grid
Situated west of Canberra and south of Gundagai, near the town of Tumut, Kestrel Nest EcoHut is just ten minutes off the Hume Highway and seven minutes from the Snowy Mountains Highway, making it equally accessible for people travelling through Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide or Sydney.
Rustic luxury
The rustic luxury accommodation is an ideal blend of escapism and eco-chic, sitting on its own little ridge miles from anyone on the grounds of Highfield Farm and Woodland. Kestrel Nest is named after the magnificent Kestrel bird, the first bird spotted by the owners after the devastating January 2020 bushfires, which almost decimated the hut.
Farm fresh produce
It’s an ideal place to get off-the-grid and off-line in style, and with all the luxurious one is accustomed to. A well-equipped kitchen allows you to cook up a storm with the farm’s locally sourced produce (which is available to purchase). Or you can choose to picnic on one of their specialty hampers and local wine instead.
Miles away
Stay cosy with the internal wood fireplace and outdoor fire pit while you gaze up at a million stars. Just because you’re off-the-grid doesn’t mean you’ll go without, either. Solar panels and batteries guarantee plenty of energy, but you may prefer to gaze at the incredible views available from the panoramic double-glazed windows.
