The current restrictions are forcing wanderlust Australians to get a little creative with travel. The Yarra Valley – an astoundingly short drive from Melbourne’s CBD – is offering at-home deliveries and socially distanced activities to keep your travelling dreams alive.

You can’t keep the team at Seville Estate down. These fine folks are offering home deliveries of flavoursome ready-made meals and bottles of wine during the lock-down.

Locals can count on a same day delivery (if you live within 25km) or a next day delivery for those further afield. On site collection takes place between 10–5pm each day – and you’ll be able to catch glimpses of the picturesque estate from the car window. Self-quarantine doesn’t look so bad with a 2018 Sewn Chardonnay in hand.

Although the gallery and restaurant may be shut for the foreseeable future, Tarra Warra is offering free shipping on all online orders. The region is famous for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir so a couple of bottles of the 2017 Reserve Chardonnay and a 2017 Estate Point Noir will do just right.

If wine isn’t your isolation drink of choice, Four Pillars Gin is delivering cocktail essentials for an isolation party (and by that we mean for you and your cat). The team launched Changing Seasons Gin on 30 March as a collaboration between the Healesville distillery and Japan based Kyoto Distillery. This new gin, along with many other cocktail ingredients, is available via the online store.

It’s absolutely possible to get your necessary nature bathing (and daily exercise) and remain 1.5m from people on the O’Shannassy Aqueduct trail in East Warburton. The wide trail meanders through California redwoods and eucalyptus forest, alongside running water. If you’d rather take the trail at speed, it’s perfect for a leisurely bike ride – remaining mostly flat the whole way. The walk begins at the O’Shannassy Aqueduct trail picnic ground and car park, which is accessible by car from Dee Rd (and over a one-lane bridge). The full hike is 21.4 km but shorter adventures along the trail are highly encouraged.

For a hike with a little more climb, the Mount Riddell Summit in Healesville is a steady, yet easy, walk to the summit (a total 13km return). The trail is wide (social distancing tick) and views of the valley below provide entertainment along the way. Many native animals (such as wombats, wallabies and an array of bird life) may pop their heads out along the way so keep a keen eye out.
