Bondi haunt Hotel Ravesis may be best known as a late night drinking den, but that looks set to change with the Eastern Suburbs favourite unveiling a series of jaw-dropping new rooms. A complete venue refurbishment has seen 12 boutique rooms and suites introduced, all in ode to mid-century chic and the beachside playgrounds of Cuba and Miami. Interior designer Carina Hicks styled the rooms, each awash in crisp white linens and artworks from local creatives Daimon Downey and Akila Berjaoui. Owner’s son Aya Larkin brings says the revamp was a necessary one. “Our hotel rooms haven’t seen such extensive renovation since they were first converted from apartments in 1989. With this renewal we wanted to give our guests a taste of a vibrant beachside lifestyle, while revealing the building’s iconic history and character,” he says. “Following the refresh of the restaurant and bar in 2016 we’ve seen huge numbers of locals and visitors through the doors. There’s great vitality in the place and we’re excited to unveil our new rooms to complete the leisure experience.” But perhaps it’s not the Instagram-worthy interiors that are most impressive, but the hotel mini bar. There’s a bespoke blend of Archie Rose x Hotel Ravesis gin, Koval Whisky, Fever Tree tonics, Tamari almonds, Whittakers chocolate, classic Italian Pastiglie Leone mints and Marvis Toothpaste. A complimentary illustrated Bondi map (complete with dining recommendations) and a 24-hour concierge team is also on hand for newcomers to the district.
