The birthplace of Guinness is now home to an aptly named booze-free pub: 'The Virgin Mary'.
In an unexpected move, Ireland’s Guinness-loving capital Dublin just gained its first alcohol-free pub: The Virgin Mary Bar. Yet, this is still an over-eighteens-only locale.
The new watering hole might have the same look and feel of a traditional Irish drinking spot, but this one is aimed at people who don’t touch the alcoholic stuff (or are perhaps nursing a hangover).

Set in the heart of the city, on Capel Street, The Virgin Mary Bar is the concept of Vaughan Yates, who says, ‘people [in Dublin] are looking for a place where they can sit down with friends and really connect in a lively yet mindful drinking environment.’
The grog-free menu includes a signature version of the bar’s namesake mocktail (plus many other mocktail concoctions), alongside alcohol-free beers, spirits and wines.
Despite having just opened, the venue is already a hit with the locals, and has been nominated as a finalist in the Irish Bar of the Year Awards 2019 in The Innovative Bar of the Year Award category.
