Say ciao to this seasonal garden terrace.
Bird in Hand, one of Adelaide Hills’ most beloved wineries, has teamed up with Sparrow Italia, a modern Italian hotspot in London known for hosting stars like Cameron Diaz, Adam Sandler, Allison Janney and Serena Williams among others, to launch Sparrow’s Nest by Bird in Hand.
The seasonal activation will see Bird in Hand take over Sparrow Italia’s intimate rooftop garden terrace for the summer. The Adelaide Hills winery has called on London florist and poet Julia Campbell-Gillies to transform the space into a lush Mediterranean-meets-British floral escape.

Tucked away on Avery Row in London, Sparrow Italia has an intimate 20-seater rooftop terrace that offers a front-row seat to the Mayfair skyline. Guests can sip a curated selection of Bird in Hand wines (including the rare 2020 ‘Joy’ Nest Egg), while enjoying signature light summer dishes like tuna tartare with truffle ponzu and the iconic ‘Sparrow Chopp’ – a salad consisting of cavolo nero, radicchio, chili, chickpeas, red onion, pistachio and provolone piccante dressed in a shallot vinaigrette – alongside oysters and caviar, all with skyline views.

“At Bird in Hand, we’re inspired by the natural beauty of the Adelaide Hills and the importance of creating moments of happiness through culinary journeys,” said Susie Nugent, co-founder of Bird in Hand. “Partnering with Sparrow Italia and Julia Campbell-Gillies to transform Sparrow’s Nest is an exciting opportunity to bring a snippet of our home to London, blending vibrant garden design with exceptional hospitality.”
So if you’re in London and craving a bit of Australia, head to Sparrow Italia’s rooftop this summer and be transported Down Under with every sip of Bird in Hand.
Sparrow’s Nest by Bird in Hand is open from now until September 30, 2025. Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 12pm-12am, and Saturday and Sunday, 1pm-12am. Sparrow Italia is located at 1-3 Avery Row, London.
