Did we mentioned it's bordered by a beach that's been listed as one of the world's top ten?
If getting back to nature is on your list of things to do in 2019, you’re in luck. Nestled in a sprawling, verdant rainforest on the island of Langkawi is The Datai Langkawi resort. Following a twelve-month renovation, the property is set to re-open in December 2018 – bringing a host of wellness and nature-oriented offerings to the island.
With a selection of 121 rooms, suites and villas – each with top-notch views of the natural setting surrounding the resort – guests will be able to sleep soundly within the ancient rainforest.

Nature lovers will find their happy place when they partake in The Datai Langkawi’s nature activities, led by Irshad Mobarak and his team of naturalists. There’ll be nature walks, an observatory deck, a 15-metre-high canopy walk, cruises, birdwatching, kayaking, and swimming adventures on the island.
A nature centre encases a library full of references to local nature, and a lounge where guests can listen to experts speak about the wild. Also in-house is a tea corner where Dr Ghani – a well-known traditional Malay medicine guru – uses native herbs and spices from the rainforest to conduct delicious teas.
A spa, situated along a winding stream, will focus on aligning wellness with nature – embracing remedies from the rainforest.
At the resort, visitors can also learn to cook Malay, Thai or Indian cuisines. And, there’s a choice of six dining destinations where guest can enjoy fresh Asian dishes. There’s a Malaysian restaurant, a Thai restaurant, a breakfast-ready dining room, a beach club and bar, a lobby lounge and a personalised dining option (which you can enjoy directly on the white sandy beach, if you like).
