Tartan, tweed and whisky unite in one beautiful setting.
Amid the movie-set-like magic of the Cairngorms National Park in Royal Deeside, Scotland, The Fife Arms has opened its doors. Distinctly Scottish and decidedly sophisticated, this boutique accommodation offering is surrounded by natural beauty.

That artistic sensibilities of owners Iwan and Manuela Wirth, co-presidents of art gallery Hauser + Wirth, are evident throughout the eclectic and immaculate (and patriotic) decor of the 19th century inn – with Russel Sage Studio at the helm of the interiors. Local craftspeople have been celebrated, with tartan- and tweed-swathed walls are created Araminta Campbell and gardens by celebrated designer Jinny Blom.
The building itself has been carefully resorted by Moxon architects. And, of course, Iwan and Manuela and adorned the property with contemporary artworks – many of which reflect Scottish landscapes and culture.

As for the accommodation, 46 beautifully designed rooms each tell a story that links to their location in Braemar. There are for Royal Suites dedicated to Queen Victoria, the Duke of Fife, Princess Royal Louise and Abdul Karim. Eleven Victorian Suites are inspired by key figures of the era, twelve Scottish Culture rooms are devoted to the nation’s history, thirteen Nature and Poetry Rooms pay homage to poets and the land, five Croft Rooms reflect traditional Scottish accommodation styles and one Artist’s Residence Room has been designed by Hauser + Wirth Director Neil Wenman.
Chef Robert Cameron has curated the menu at The Clunie Dining Room, which highlights Scottish favourites as influenced by the seasons and locally available ingredients. For a sip of proper Scotch whisky there’s Elsa’s Bar and The Flying Stag – and original village pub. Exclusive event rooms are also available.
Nearby, guests can take time to connect with the setting, with outdoor activities such as hiking, salmon fishing, water sports, snow sports, golf and dog sledding in the area. Or, take it easy and keep warm inside this artfully adorned inn.
