We asked a first-class flight attendant for her passenger pet peeves: her answers might surprise you

And you'll never guess which people they consider to be the worst travellers of all.

With more than ten years’ experience working as an in-flight crew member for an esteemed, world-renowned airline, this flight attendant has seen the best and worst of passenger behaviour.

We asked this ever-smiling customer service professional to anonymously reveal some of her most frustrating passenger pet peeves, and these are the passengers she called out:

  1. “Passengers who put their meal trays on the floor when they are finished with them. It’s funny, because when I’m dining in restaurants I never see anyone put their plates on the floor when they’re done with their meals.”meal-tray
  2. “People who complain to me that the flight is too long. I always think to myself, ‘Oh, it must be so hard for you sitting down and watching movies.'”
  3. “Those who build the Leaning Tower of Pisa with their food trays. I have the same amount of room in my cart, so I have to spend time unpacking their masterpieces to make them fit again.”passengers-1
  4. “Passengers who ask me what time it is. Most of the time I don’t know where I am in the world, let alone what the time is.”
  5. “The way Australians dress while travelling! I understand they want to be comfortable, but wearing an old gardening tee with holes in it and your ‘tracky dacks’ is not a great travel look. Out of all the nationalities, we are the worst by far!”
  6. “When I’m standing at the door bidding passengers farewell and they just ignore me – it’s like when people enter the airport zone they lose their minds a little bit and forget all their basic, human manners.”flight-attendant
  7. “Often, when I’ve just operated a long flight, passengers ask me if I’ll be operating the flight back. It’s like they think I’m a superwoman who doesn’t require sleep.”
  8. “The worst of all? Passengers who go to the toilet without shoes on. It’s essentially a public bathroom, but people so often stroll on in barefoot!”
