Never before has a hammock caused so much noise on social media than the suspended version at Grand Park Kodhipparu resort in the Maldives.

Perched over the Indian Ocean, the hammock bed has quickly become an Instagram travel shot favourite. Jutting out from the edge of an over-water villa, the daybed is fixed to a wooden frame (so you can actually climb in and out without risk of falling into the sea). From above, it looks as though you’re floating on the water’s surface.

And yet, this is not the only Instagram-image-fueling opportunity the resort is offering those with an eye for these things. An ocean-front infinity pool, glass-bottom floors inside over-water villas, romantic sandbank dinners under the stars and deep ocean view bathtubs are all part of the experience too.
