Just when you thought Dubai couldn't get any better.
Dubai has a reputation for the luxury end of the spectrum. Its latest accommodation option is no exception with an impressive build on its way courtesy of the One&Only group that is nothing short of jaw-dropping. This new hotel comes courtesy of the same hospitality group that is behind the much esteemed One&Only Wolgan Valley – the mountain-helmed space that sits on many a bucket list.
Now the ultra-luxury portfolio has expanded further into the Middle East with One&Only One Za’abeel. It’s not the first Dubai space for the group – who won the iconic Atlantis Resort & Residences – but this new venue marks its first urban resort and is certainly a show-stopper.
To open in 2020, One Za’abeel will stand tall in the Za’abeel district in the city centre, settled between the old and new business distrcits of Dubai. The development will contain two towers of mixed-use, hosting luxury residences, serviced apartments and office spaces in addition to opulent retail podium The Gallery, and panoramic sky concourse The Linx, which connect the two towers together.

“There is a duality to One Za’abeel, reflected in its two towers, that evokes pairings. Timeless elegance with function, efficiency with leisure, tradition with modernity, inclusion and privacy,” says His Excellency Mohammed I. Al Shaibani, Chairman of Kerzner International, Executive Director and CEO of Investment Corporation of Dubai. “The paired concepts come together where The Linx traverses the towers offering all those who get in touch with One Za’abeel one complete, bespoke, and very individual experience every time. That is why, it is very fitting that the first urban resort for One&Only opens in this development of the future.”
“Our ambition is to become part of the soul of any city we enter,” explains CEO Kerzner International Michael P. Wale of the development “We are thrilled to be introducing One&Only to the urban space, providing something completely different for our discerning guests, delivered with our renowned personalised experience. Iconic buildings such as One Za’abeel are the perfect locations for One&Only Urban Resorts. We are proud One&Only One Za’abeel is part of the foundation of the next generation of the destination.”
Alongside its statement-making architecture, One Za’abeel’s offerings for guests are rather elaborate (and exactly what you would expect of a rather pricey establishment). There’s One Cycle and One Yoga for visitors focused on maintaining their fitness, with One&Only spas on site for pampering services around the clock. The hotel will also integrate a signature restaurant, and has promised that The Linx space connecting the two towers will offer panoramic views (as a result of it sitting 100m from the ground) but will be home to a hub of restaurants and retailers, and a swimming pool.
On to the interiors – to call the suites plush would be an understatement. Rooms are customised to cater to guests’ every needs, from walk-in-wardrobes to art studios, and the optional extra of a children’s playroom. There are also, of course, serviced apartments that form a part of the property for guests who prefer their independence.
“For One&Only, it is the perfect opportunity to deliver on the many requests from our loyal guests—to be in key cities throughout the globe, evident from the significant awards the brand has received,” explains One&Only CEO Philippe Zuber of the decision to expand into urban development with a Dubai property.“Our Urban Resorts will be a translation of the life and energy and entertainment of our world-renowned Beach Resorts, offering curated experiences for each guest, from business and leisure travellers, families, as well as the community, an utterly unrivalled urban oasis. Central to all of Dubai – a true crossroads of the city, One&Only One Za’abeel will become a place where people want to be–and come back for more, continued discovery. One Za’abeel will be the ultimate destination in Dubai– the perfect landmark in which to introduce One&Only Urban Resorts, continuing to build on our success in the destination.”
