Worlds collide at this laid-back locale.
There’s no doubt that Australian foodies are making their presence known in other parts of the world (think New York’s brunches and London’s coffee scene). But, what do you get when you mingle the atmosphere of a laid-back Australian dining spot, the flavours of Morocco and the backdrop of bustling Marrakesh? A destination worth travelling to try, we think.
plus61 is about to break the mould – encapsulating the spirit of the Australian lifestyle, while serving up traditionally prepared foods. The new dining destination is the brainchild of Cassandra Karinsky (of interiors brand Kulchi) and Sebastian de Gzell (of Surry Hill’s Nomad). Naturally, the fruits of such a partnership have prompted some seriously stylish and delicious results.

The pair has teamed up with chef Andrew Cibej (formerly of Vini, Berta and Bacco), who has adopted traditional preparation techniques to create his menu. Bread, cheese, pasta and yoghurts are made in house each day, while fresh produce comes from the bio-organic farmers of Marrakech. The resulting dishes are flavoursome, uncomplicated and fresh.
You can find plus61 at 96 Rue Mohamed el Beqal, Gueliz Marrakech 40000, Morocco.
