And a quarter of the private island resort is reserved for adults only.

There’s a certain charm to 1960s hotels – the kind that make you feel you’re on the set of Mad Men. But, this 1967-built resort – the largest private island resort in Fiji and the South Pacific – has just undergone a USD50 million renovation. Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort & Spa, Yanuca Island, has been transformed following two years of refurbishment.

Better yet, it’s bringing new dining destinations in tow. Sprawled over more than 100 hectres of tropical island land, featuring oceanfront villas, cafes, restaurants and pools. And, a quarter of the resort is adults only.

Away from the adults-only areas, families can enjoy upgraded suites and self-contained accommodation offerings. There are also family-friendly activities and kids’ clubs on site – including the largest inflatable water park in the South Pacific.

Three pool areas, 443 rooms, public areas, a spa, dining spots and bars have all undergone a thorough makeover.

A local team of culinary talent has been brought together by Chef Ruldolf Kunkel, who will ensure at least 75% of food served on the island is locally sourced.
