These four-poster beds in Kenya take star gazing to the next level. At Loisaba, “starbeds” are rolled out onto raised wooden platforms so that guests sleep under the endless African night sky. Amenities include a queen size bed, small kitchenette, full bathroom, a private outdoor terrace, air conditioning, and a built-in fireplace for the winter. Once they climb down their sunny hideout, guests will be able to explore the boundless grounds of the old stone villa: each booking of the Treehouse at Casa Barthel, also gives access to the swimming pool, tennis court, and other amenities available on the compound, and even a dining porch with a BBQ and a wood-fired oven.

Set in the Tarangire National Park, the sixth largest national park in Tanzania, these luxury treetop rooms have views across the Tarangire plains. The Tarangire National Park is famous for its huge number of elephants, baobab trees and tree climbing lions. Visitors to the park can expect to see any number of resident zebra and wildebeest in addition to the less common animals. Other common animals include waterbuck, giraffe, and olive baboons.

Entry to the house involves climbing 75 steps, but the reward is a view to the Somosomo Strait.
