A tiny gem just a few minutes’ walk from the main piazzetta, Gennaro Amitrano is run by Chef Amitrano, who trained under Alain Ducasse at Louis XV and for Chef Gianfranco Visani at his two-star Michelin restaurant in Umbria. They offer tasting menus focussing on contemporary Italian-fare, like shrimp carpaccio with burrata cheese, toasted lentils, and black truffle.

Surrounded by a beautiful garden and featuring a wine cellar with a staggering 15,000 labels, Da Tonino is quite a walk from the centre, but well worth the effort. Try their house specialitiy: scialatielli (a type of thick and short fettuccine) in a clam-and-pumpkin sauce.

Owned and run by Pietro & Paola, a husband and wife team who were born and raised on the island, Villa Margherita is set in a lush garden overlooking the sea. Try the seared scallops with “lardo di colonnata”, local broccoli and grated lemon from their own garden.

One of Italy’s oldest outposts, Da Gemma manages to meld fine dining with a relaxed atmosphere. Like many Capri restaurants, seafood here is the star of the menu, plus modern takes on classic dishes – like the insalata caprese, with not just vine-fresh tomatoes but fried and liquefied ones, too.

Clasping the edge of the cliff above the famed Blue Grotto, Il Riccio is a restaurant-cum-dayclub owned by the renowned Capri Palace Hotel. Holding a Michelin-star since 2013, the restaurant offers a relaxed but sublime gastronomic experience, with exquisite house-made pasta such as the Spaghetti Alla Chitarra with sea urchins and breaded cod medallions.

Headed up by Chef Andrea Migliaccio (ex L’Espadon at the Ritz Paris), L’Olivo is Capri’s only two-Michelin starred venue. Also under the umbrella of the Capri Palace, you can expect delicate concoctions such as raw shrimp with foie gras, green apple and gin or a classic fusilli al ferretto with genovese rabbit, artichokes and pecorino.

A celebration of everything that is the sea, Lido del Faro serves up inventive takes on classic seafood dishes, such as stuffed ravioli with clams and pumpkin. Perched on a terrace above a stunning cove lit by one of Italy’s biggest lighthouses, it’s the perfect place idle over a few vinos while the sun dips below the Bay of Naples.

Set in a cave on a hillside terrace, Le Grotelle’s dramatic setting makes it is an ideal date-spot, or a great finish line after a peaceful walk in Pizzolungo, which runs for kilometres along the coast. Their rustic menu of Campania-inspired dishes ranges from land to seafood, such as homemade fusilli pasta with shrimps and courgettes to rabbit with onions, garlic and rosemary.

With its soft, white-beige furnishings and breathtaking view over the Faraglioni, Terrazza Brunella is a romantic eatery with a menu of seafood-based pasta dishes, regional delicacies as well as prawns with cognac and Chateaubriand.

Surrounded by lush nature on the south-western side of the island, this restaurant is a truly a family affair. You’ll feast on home-made pasta cooked with vegetables from their own backyard garden, washed down with wine made on site. To top things, off the view, Punta Carena Lighthouse all the way to the Faraglioni, is truly spectacular.

A wine lover’s heaven, Pulalli Wine Bar is stocked to the rafters with Italian wines, mostly available by the glass. They also serve up small plates and antipasti, making it a perfect pitstop for an afternoon Aperitivo.

Specialising in Caprese cuisine and ‘famiglia’ hospitality, Ristorante Michel’angelo was opened in March 2009 by brothers Marco and Gianluca D’Esposito. They offer a daily Aperitivo tasting (besides Wednesdays) from 5-6.30pm, where you can taste local mozzarella, burrata and ricotta, or discover the semi hard, hard cheeses and salami of Southern Italy.

Situated at the water’s edge in the ancient fishing district of Marina Grande, it’s no surprise seafood dominates the menu at Lo Zodiaco. Order the fresh handmade pasta with sea truffles, with salt cod and chick peas, or with prawns and pumpkin flowers.
