My favourite croissant in Paris has to be from Blé Sucré in the 12arr. Translating to sweet wheat, owner and baker, Fabrice Le Bourdat (former pastry chef at Le Bristol) opened this patisserie over ten years ago which continues to be a favourite of locals and pastry lovers. The croissant is the perfect blend of crispy and flakey, always served straight from the oven with a soft, warm and buttery centre. 7 Rue Antoine Vollon, 75012 Paris.

Le Voltaire is always a good idea. It’s a classic brasserie situated right on the river overlooking the Seine. The old school charm extends past the 1920’s style decor – they specialise in French classics…famous for their steak (cooked medium rare) and the most delicious frites in the city. I always like to finish my meal at Le Voltaire with a plate for fresh berries and cream. 27 Quai Voltaire, 75007 Paris.

Located in my favourite area, the 6th arrondissement, La Palette is iconic. It is located in the gallery and art district of Saint Germain which is the reasons for it being popular among fine art students and gallery owners. It has one of the best terraces in all of Paris and I often find myself there most mornings enjoying either a croquet monsieur or a fresh omelette… there’s something special about a Parisian breakfast. 43 Rue de Seine, 75006 Paris, cafelapaletteparis.com.

One of my closest friends is French chef Yves Camdeborde, often known as the chef responsible for the creation of ‘bistronomy’, Gastronomic bistro booking. His little pocket of restaurants in Carrefour de L’Odeon includes bistro L’Comptoir, L’Avant Comptoir which serves the most delicious selection of meats and L’Avant Comptoir De La Mer – the best place for an aperitif…. the space specialises in seafood – freshly shucked oysters, calamari… all enjoyed with freshly baked bread and a mound of butter. I absolutely love Cafe Kitsune. Nestled in the garden of Palais Royal just a stone’s throw from the Louvre, this place knows good coffee. The place is tiny so take your coffee to go, and bring it outside to a bench in the garden while you watch French men playing boules and children playing.
