And it will float your boat.
The Ritz-Carlton launching an opulent yacht collection was some of the biggest news to come out of the cruise world in 2022. And it looks like the Orient Express is following suit in 2023, releasing news that its own luxury brand of ship, Orient Express Silenseas, will be setting sail in 2026. The news comes 140 years after it first launched its iconic trains.
So what makes Silenseas so special? Where to begin. French shipbuilders Chatiers de l’Atlantique and Accor have joined forces to create a revolutionary ship. It will be powered by a 1,500 sqm wind propulsion system and a hybrid propulsion system powered by liquefied gas. Meaning its gentler on the environment compared to your regular cruise ship.
Say goodbye to crowds of people and hello to privacy. On board the 220-metre ship there will be just 54 sprawling suites – we’re predicting tickets will not be easy to come by. Included will be a 1,215 sqm presidential suite featuring a private terrace overlooking the ocean. To unwind, guests can take advantage of two swimming pools, dine at two restaurants, and sip on cocktails at a speakeasy bar.
Silenseas itineraries will be based around the Mediterranean riviera in summer – think Portofino, Capri and Saint Tropez – and the Caribbean in the winter. Come 2026, you’ll find us cruising the Med on Silenseas. Well, we can only hope.
