The best things in life are free. Words by Chloe Whelan.
The City of Sydney is celebrating the start of summer with free entry to a number of public swimming pools across the city, allowing residents to keep cool without the added cost. The local government authority will open six aquatic centres across the inner city for free public access this Saturday from 8am to 3pm.
The open day will apply to sports and swimming centres in Camperdown, where the mercury is expected to climb to 36C, as well as Ultimo (34C), the CBD (34C), Zetland (33C) and Surry Hills (33C). Temperatures in other parts of Sydney, including the western suburbs, are expected to reach the low-40s, so it may be well worth the journey into the city centre.
Andrew Boy Charlton at The Domain, in the heart of Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens, is included in the deal having been spruced up by a $10 million refurbishment and boasting an eight heated lanes, toddlers’ paddling pools, a sundeck with harbour views and massage therapies.
