It's a slice of heaven (slice of heaven).
A mind-blowing two-minute video that captures the beauty and stillness of Auckland, New Zealand has captivated people around the world amid coronavirus pandemic restrictions and quarantines.
The video was produced by Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) during the COVID-19 lockdown as a way to connect with travellers who are stuck inside, unable to travel.
Titled Papatūānuku is breathing, the video has resonated with so many people that it’s already been translated into French and Spanish by two enraptured and motivated viewers.
The two-minute video – which was posted on April 10th with the hashtag #DreamNowExperienceLater – has already been viewed more than 650,000 times across a multitude of different platforms, and generated a huge spike in traffic to the Auckland Tourism Facebook page.
The production was completed with all those involved working remotely in separate locations. It was produced during New Zealand’s continuing lockdowns due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The voiceover was recorded at home by 11-year-old Manawanui Maniapoto Mills in Muriwai, on Auckland’s rugged west coast and all the footage came from existing sources.
ATEED’s General Manager Destination Steve Armitage says the video’s message was designed to be simple: this is a time of rest; take a moment to appreciate the stillness and the beauty of the region.
“While people are unable to visit our region at the moment, all of Auckland’s wonderful experiences will be waiting for the world when the time is right.”
Make sure you check out the video for yourself on the Auckland Tourism Facebook page. It’s 2 minutes and 32 seconds of 100% pure New Zealand magic.
