Cool runnings.

Say hello to Thredbo’s newest attraction: the Alpine Coaster. Think of a mini coaster that will sit high above skiers descending the resort’s iconic slopes.

Construction is well underway on the Southern Hemisphere’s first-ever, year-round Alpine Coaster. Set to open this winter, the first-of-its-kind coaster will offer yet another action-packed way to take in the mountain, whether covered in snow or grass.

At 1.5km in length, passengers on the Alpine Coaster can control their speed of up to 40km/h as they travel along a mix of uphill and downhill tracks. Tunnels, bridges and circles are featured along the track that traverses the alpine environment.

“The Alpine Coaster is set to add a new dimension to every guest’s visit. It will be a hugely exciting on-snow experience in winter, and it will build upon our wide range of outdoor adventures in summer as a drawcard for new tourists to the village in the shoulder seasons. This new development is a testament to Thredbo’s commitment to providing a premium experience for our guests 365 days a year,” said Thredbo General Manager, Stuart Diver.

In the heart of Kosciuszko National Park in the Snowy Mountains, the award-winning Thredbo ski resort is one of Australia’s best and will be made all the cooler with this latest addition.
