But the sound of silence, priceless.
Unsettled children on a flight does not make for a restful flight, especially for the parents. But those travelling without tots in tow and looking to get some shut eye on a flight can now book a seat in a child-free zone on Turkish-Dutch carrier, Corendon Airlines.
The adult-only area will be available on the carrier’s A350 flights between Amsterdam and the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao. Launching November 3, the zone will be in the front section of the aircraft and boast nine ‘XL’ seats, with extra legroom and 93 standard seats.
Here, walls and curtains will provide a shielded environment to help create a calm and relaxing atmosphere for passengers. Seats in this zone will come at an extra cost. Over-16s will be able to book a standard seat for 45 euros and an XL seat for 100 euros.

The Turkish-Dutch carrier said: ‘This zone in the aircraft is intended for passengers travelling without children and for business travellers who want to work in a quiet environment. At the same time, the introduction of the Only Adult zone also has a positive effect for parents with children. They don’t have to worry as much about possible reactions from fellow passengers if their child is a bit busier or cries.’
Corendon Airlines is not the first to introduce a child-free zone. Low-cost carrier, Scoot, offers ‘ScootSilence’ seats that are positioned towards the front of the plane where under-12s are banned. Japan Airlines booking system allows passengers to see where infants are seated on the plane in case the guest would prefer to sit away from them.
So if travelling in silence is right up your alley, book your next flight with Corendon Airlines.
