This airline is serving up hearty German meals for Oktoberbest 2019

Take your love for German food sky high.

Headed to the birthplace of Oktoberfest to partake in this year’s merriment? You’re in for an authentic German treat. Until 6 October, Emirates customers flying between Dubai and Germany, can enjoy Bavarian specialty dishes on board (and in its airport lounges) to mark the occasion.

In First and Business Classes, guests can drink Oktoberfest beer from Paulaner in the Onboard Lounge of the Emirates A380 – served in traditional stone beer mugs, no less. Also at the bar will be will be gingerbread hearts, pretzels served with sweet mustard, liptauer and obatzter (quintessential cheesy drinking snacks) and sandwiches.

While seated, Emirates’ premium class passengers flying from Dubai to Germany can enjoy Nuremberg chicken sausages with mashed potato and sour cabbage, and leberkaese (similar to a corned meat) with fried egg and potatoes or sour cabbage and potatoes. For dessert? Think apple strudel with vanilla sauce. On flights from Germany back to Dubai, customers can devour braised beef with red cabbage and potato dumplings.

Economy guests can savour beef goulash and spaetszle (a German pasta), or leberkaese with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes and a piece of delicious bienenstich (bee sting cake) for dessert. And on the route from Germany back to Dubai, passengers can choose between beef with caraway sauce and knöpfle (or spaetszle) and Nuremberg grilled sausages with sauerkraut.

In the Emirates airport lounges in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Munich guests will sample Bavarian snacks, including leberkaese, weisswuerste (a white sausage), chicken legs, potato salad, obatzter or pretzels.
